Obituary for Trudy Janelle Coleman

Trudy Janelle Coleman, 75, of Farragut died peacefully at the Country Living Home in Farragut on April 5, 2018. Trudy was born Jan 13, 1943, in Murphy N.C., the daughter of the late Gene Conner and Edith Hensley. At an early age she showed signs of being a gregarious outgoing child. She made friends easily and maintained relationships with many of those early friends throughout her life. She went to school in Oak Ridge and graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1961. Immediately following she entered the University of Tennessee. After two years she transferred to Denver University where she graduated in 1965. Returning to Oak Ridge she married Lynn Coleman who she had dated since high school. They spent their first year in Lubbock, TX where Lynn attended Air Force pilot training. Their first assignment was in England where their first son, was born. Their assignments also took them to South Carolina, where their second son was born, Florida, and Arizona. Unfortunately the marriage ended in 1982, but they continued a very close relationship. One of Trudy’s proudest accomplishments was the raising of their two boys as a single parent. Once again single, she entered the work force at Bechtel Corporation. Following that she found her niche at Pellissippi State Community College eventually becoming the head of the Center for Advanced Office Systems. Later, she became Director of Internships, finding internships for students where she stayed until retiring in 2009. In retirement there was no doubt her primary interest was her grandchildren. Throughout her life, family and friends were of utmost importance to her. As a devoted mother she defined unconditional love for her children. Her outgoing, accepting personality allowed her to make friends with any and all she came in contact. Her loss will touch a multiple of friends in many places. She was predeceased by her brother Harry Conner of Oak Ridge and is survived by her sons Glen (Autumn) Coleman of Knoxville, Greg Coleman of Knoxville, grandchildren Conner and Olivia Coleman, nieces Carol (David) Hetzel of Oak Ridge, Kristen (Eric) Tobler of Oak Ridge, and a number of other close relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 5 – 7pm at Weatherford Mortuary. A Celebration of Life will follow at 7:00pm. The family asks that any memorials be made in her name to the Young Williams Animal Center, 3201 Division Street, Knoxville, TN 37919.
