Obituary for Frances Coleen Rogers

Frances Coleen Rogers, 82, of Oak Ridge, TN, died following a long illness on April 4, 2018. Fran, born March 28, 1936, was a native of Snyder, OK, and a 1954 graduate of Snyder High School. She was the only daughter of Henry Coleman Rogers and Mary Francis (Rose) Rogers, both deceased. Fran was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Snyder, which she joined as a youth. She is survived by two daughters, Colena Jo Sanders and her husband, Stephen, of Flower Mound, TX, and Karen Rene Dybvad and her husband, Bruce, of Cincinnati, OH, and one son, Kevin Darel Rogers of Los Angeles, CA. She was a fun and loving granny to her four granddaughters, Stephanie and Sarah Sanders, and Kelsey and Audrey Dybvad. She was also a cherished “Gigi” to her great-granddaughter, Finleigh. She will also be missed by her devoted partner, Tommy C. Brown of Oak Ridge, TN. They shared over three decades working together and loving each other and their collective children.
Throughout her life, Fran was an active participant in her children’s activities – especially those that were connected to their schools. As a family, they traveled extensively and lived many places. During their 32-year marriage, she was a supportive wife to Joe Neal Rogers (deceased), a US Air Force career officer. She established beautiful homes in each location of his assignments that included Cheyenne, WY; Finchingfield, England; Los Angeles, CA; Okinawa, Japan; Colorado Springs, CO; Lubbock, TX; Hampton, VA; Seoul, South Korea; Fairfax, VA; Edmond, OK; and Wright Patterson, OH. Fran moved to Oak Ridge, TN, after her husband’s retirement and their divorce. She became office manager for the Oak Ridge office of Process Equipment Company. She had fond memories from her employment in Hess’ Department Store Customer Service Office, 1988-1992. She also worked many tax seasons as an H&R Block receptionist in Virginia, Oklahoma, Knoxville and Oak Ridge, TN. Included in her many talents and interests were sewing, interior decorating, and gardening. She was a huge NBA fan, an avid reader of newspapers including the weekly-delivered Snyder Democrat wherever she lived around the globe, and enjoyed following politics. Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge, will prepare Fran for her final flight across this country she loved. Becker-Rabon Funeral Home, Snyder, OK, will receive her and care for the family’s needs for her burial. Her family and friends will celebrate her life with a graveside service in Fairlawn Cemetery of Snyder, OK, where she will be buried next to her mother and daddy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in her honor to the Fairlawn Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 365, Snyder, OK 73566; or to a charity of their choice in her honor. An online guestbook can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com.
