Obituary for Paul Milner Tarrant

Paul Milner Tarrant passed away
January 6, 2019 from pancreatic
cancer. He was born in Berkeley,
CA on April 10, 1953. In 1954, his
family moved to Oak Ridge, TN
where he became a lifelong
resident of East Tennessee. Mr.
Tarrant was a Christian and
member of Glenwood Baptist

He graduated from Oak Ridge High
School in 1971. He obtained his
baccalaureate in mathematics from
the University of the Cumberlands
and his Master of Science degree
in Library Science from the
University of Tennessee. He
worked extensively with local
companies and several large
corporations supporting
information archive and
management efforts and was a
longtime member of the American
Records Management Association-

In his spare time, he enjoyed
collecting firearms and supporting
the local Public Broadcasting
Service fundraising telethons.

Mr. Tarrant is preceded in death by
his father James R. Tarrant II;
maternal grandparents Pitt
Milner Carlisle and Inice Waller
Dryman; and paternal
grandparents Paul Robinson and
Mary Grace Saunders Tarrant.

He is survived by his mother, Inice
Carlisle Tarrant of Dothan, Alabama
and his siblings Jim Tarrant of
Bolivar, Missouri, Inice (Neecie)
Elise Tarrant of Dothan, AL, and Pitt
Tarrant of Johnson City, TN. He is
also survived by special family
members Catherine, Sarah, and
Brittany Tarrant; Molly Blalock,
Cheryl Tarrant and Emmette
Tarrant Murkett. He leaves behind a
host of special family friends
including J.P. Lawless family, Kevin
Eckstein, Alan Patterson, Jack
Greene, and Jack Coffey.

At Mr. Tarrant’s request and
following cremation, a private
family graveside service will be
held at Elmwood Cemetery in
Birmingham, AL. Weatherford’s
Mortuary of Oak Ridge is handling
