Obituary for James Edwin Drewry

James Edwin Drewry, 80, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 at his home.
He was born June 20, 1938 in Emporia, Virginia, the son of Edwin Garrett “E.G” Drewry and Bertha Dunn Drewry. He served with the US Air Force where he attained the rank of Captain and worked as an aerospace researcher at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Mr. Drewry also worked for the Gas Research Institute in Chicago and Teledyne in Toledo before joining ORAU in Oak Ridge for the remainder of his career. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Martha Faye Wilkerson Drewry, July 9, 2014 and son, Gary Edwin Drewry, April 27, 2001. He is survived by son, Kyle Drewry and wife Penny and their children, Chloe and Lily; step-son James McElroy and wife Kristy and children, Drew, Megan and Ransom and step-daughter, Jenna McElroy Bunch and her husband David and children, Joshua and Jacob. Family and friends will meet on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 9am for a graveside service at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by the Volunteer State War Era Honor Guard.
