Obituary for CeCelia Jane Black

CeCelia Jane Black, 65, of Oak Ridge, TN, passed away after a short illness on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at home. She was born to parents, Rev. Clarence Ray Baker Sr. and Betty Jo (Taylor) on December 27, 1952 in Ironton, Ohio. CeCelia was a 1971 graduate from McKell H.S. Greenup, KY. She held professional licensed careers in banking and insurance, as bank teller in Ashland, KY, Cincinnati, OH and Yuma, AZ, and insurance representative for State Farm in San Dimas and San Diego, CA, Richmond VA, retiring in 2004 with Ruby Miller State Farm Agency in Oak Ridge, TN. She enjoyed her time as a homemaker, family farm day reunions to Ohio and Kentucky area, and special July meetings for the Big Branch Old Regular Baptist homecomings, being an eighth generation McCoy of Brushy Creek in Pikeville, KY. She was preceded in death by her great grandparents, Thomas Jefferson and Celia (Corbett) McCoy; grandfather, Rush Biege Taylor; grandmother, Calysta "Carrie" Jane (McCoy); father, Rev. Clarence Ray Baker Sr.; mother Betty Jo (Taylor); father In-law, Leslie Owen Black Sr. and sister In-law, Deborah Kaye Pool. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Leslie Owen Black Jr. Oak Ridge, TN; Daughters, Katyna Witten (Joe), Ashland KY, Audrey Okonkwo (Godfrey), Fontana CA, Alissa Black (Val), Oakland , CA.; grandchildren, Erica, Alana, Taj, Aeri and Bruce; brother, Rev. Clarence E. Baker, Ashland, KY; sisters, Tyna McCown (Frank), Ironton, OH and Ruthanne DeLong, Kitts Hill, OH; mother-in-law, Ruby Thomas; sisters-in-law, Carol Corkery (John), Gloria Pingrey (Winston), Lynda Black, Carolyn Barnes, Bunny Baker: host of nieces and nephews; and dearest life-long friend, Brenda Ruthledge, Florence, AZ. Family and friends will meet at 1:30pm at the Anderson Memorial Gardens on 640 Oliver Springs Hwy, Clinton, TN for a graveside service on October 20, 2018. Rev. Jeremy Tyler of Oak Ridge Baptist Church will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Holiday Bureau of Anderson County, TN.
