Obituary for Winnie Bennett Woody

Winnie B. Woody, 94 of Oak Ridge, passed away on January 28, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living in Oak Ridge.

She was born in Tate County, Mississippi in January 1924 to Jesse Luther Bennett and Minnie Pearl Bennett. Winnie came to Oak Ridge in 1945 and retired from Martin Marietta.

She was an avid bowler and bowled in many area leagues. She travelled all over the United States bowling in national tournaments. She especially loved bowling in Las Vegas, NV. She received a 35 year of participation award from the USBC (United States Bowling Congress) in 2007 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Winnie attended Robertsville Baptist Church and especially enjoyed all the people in her Sunday School class.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband David W. Woody, and her son David Wayne Woody.

Her survivors include her daughter Patricia Woody (partner Ann Willbrand) of Aiken, SC and her son Nat White (Veronika) of Sunset Beach, NC, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to the Brookdale staff and Caris Hospice for their loving care they gave to Winnie.

The family will receive friends Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 10 AM until 11 AM at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral service will follow at 11 AM with Pastor Brian Scott officiating. The graveside service will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. An online guest book may be signed at weatherfordmortuary.com
