Quitman Cordell Bohanon, II, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Park West Medical Center.

Cordell’s journey in life started on June 7, 1957. He was the first son and the seventh child of ten. He was born and raised in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He was an Oak Ridge High School Graduate of 1975 where he was a member of the basketball team. He attended Walter State Community College for two years. He won a scholarship and went to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff for a short period. He then attended Tennessee State University (TSU), Nashville, TN. After his college pursuits he enlisted in the Army and was a military veteran.
Cordell had such a big spirit, an unfailing sense of humor with loads of personality. His love of writing poetry, drawing, music, and sports was later surpassed by a spiritual knowledge. He became an avid Bible Student associated with the Emory-Powell Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Cordell was preceded in death by both parents; father, Jim Henry Bohanon and mother, Roberta Bohanon; sisters: Estella (Jean) Coleman, Mona Letrece Bohanon and Patricia Ann Allen.
Cordell will be remembered foremost for his devotion and thoughtfulness toward his family and countless loving friends.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Ivy Gail Young-Bohanon; a son, Shaun Bohanon (Amanda), Oak Ridge; a daughter, Makayia Long, Atlanta, GA; five sisters: Cherry Ivy, Oak Ridge; Jimmie (John) Thomas, Darcus Johnson, both of Knoxville, TN; Gwendolyn Phillips and Saundrea Newton, Atlanta, GA; two brothers: William Darryl Bohanon and Warren Keith Bohanon, both of Oak Ridge, TN; Stepmother, Mary Ellen Bohanon, Oak Ridge, TN; step-sisters: Judy and Connie Freeman; step-brothers: Glen, Carl, Craig and Stevie Freeman, all of Oak Ridge; three sisters-in-law: Clara (Anthony) White, Betty (Ben) Thomas, and Pamela Young, all of Oak Ridge; one brother-in-law, Jimmie (Chiquita) Young, Jr., Nashville, TN; five loving grandchildren: Jaycen, Nataliyah, Aaralyn, and Aariyana Bohanon, Oak Ridge, TN and Jacori Long, Atlanta, GA; an aunt, Louise Warmley, Harriman, TN; a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives, too numerous to name; devoted friends: Joseph Harris and Bruce White; close friends include Byron Patterson, James Hawkins, Fred Pettus, Jr., and Kenneth Spratling.
The family will receive friends at the home of Cherry Ivy, 142 Arkansas Avenue, Oak Ridge, TN; Receiving of friends at Weatherford Mortuary, Sunday, March 4, 2018, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., funeral service will be Monday, March 5, 2018, 12 noon at Weatherford Mortuary, 158 South Jefferson Circle, Oak Ridge, TN, burial at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
