Obituary for Nellie Hall Brown

Nellie Hall Brown passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2017 into the arms of Jesus, whom she trusted all her 77 years of life. She was born January 13, 1940 in Woolridge, TN, the daughter of Dudley and Nora Chitwood Hall.
She absolutely loved her IPad, college football, basketball and cooking, until her health began to fail. She loved cooking the annual Thanksgiving meal. Mrs. Brown retired from Bank of America after 27 years and then went to work in 1995 with TNBank of Oak Ridge, retiring May 31, 2012 at the age of 72.
Mrs. Brown suffered from PLS, Primary Lateral Sclerosis, which is a form of Lou Gehrig ’s disease. The one thing that couldn’t be taken from her, were her memories, which she cherished, and shared with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband Raymond H. Brown,
sister, Georgia Hall Tyree and brother, J. D. Hall.
She is survived by son Greg Brown and daughter Carla Goins who took care of their white-haired angel for thirteen years, saying it was a blessing to take care of the best mother that God could have ever blessed them with.
Also surviving is son-in-law, Jeff Goins and his mother, Joyce Goins, whom she thought of as one of her sisters;
granddaughters, Stefanie Stair and Amanda Brown; sisters, Elizabeth Louise Reed, Ruth Rymer and husband Bob;
brother, Don Hall and his wife Lee; special niece, Kathy Reed and dear friends, Doug and Deena Huber; sister-in-law, Sue Newman Pierce and brother-in-law, Ray Sherwood Brown and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Diane Fabricius, “the best doctor ever” and her staff!
Nellie will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, and most importantly for her beauty within, always seeing only the good in others and never saying any unkind word.
Family and friends will meet on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 2pm at Oak Ridge Memorial Park for a graveside service with nephew, Rev. Steven Rymer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the ALS Association, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 37022, Boone, IA 50037-0022 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
