Obituary for Joel Edwin Haynes

Joel Edwin Haynes, age 49, of Oak Ridge, passed away suddenly, Sunday, October 8, 2017 at his home.
He was born December 20, 1967 in Oak Ridge, the son of Charles Edwin Haynes and June Ypres Odom Haynes, who are both deceased.
Joel grew up attending First Presbyterian Church with his family. He graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1986; attended Middle Tennessee State University; and graduated in 1990 from the Tennessee Institute of Electronics.
Joel was an amazing bass guitarist and played in several area bands. He was a nature photographer, loving animals and nature, in general. He was an avid fisherman and golfer and loved watching reruns of Andy Griffith and Gunsmoke. Joel worked for many years as greens keeper and in maintenance at Oak Ridge Country Club. The 'job' he was most passionate about was serving as caregiver for his mother for two years before her death June 20, 2017.
He is survived by sister, Melissa Haynes of Duluth, GA;
brother, Howard Haynes of Knoxville; numerous cousins and extended family; many dear friends and his faithful and loyal feline companions, Skinny and Big, and his canine companion, Sassie, who will dearly miss him.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11am at Oak Ridge Memorial Park for a graveside service. Rev. Sharon Youngs will be officiating. Dress is casual; as though you were visiting Joel in better times.
Memorials can be made to the Oak Ridge Humane Society.
Arrangements by Weatherford Mortuary. An online guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com.
