Frances Geneva Bates, 89 of Oak Ridge passed away on December 26, 2017 at NHC, Oak Ridge.
She was born in Pardee, Virginia on September 1, 1928 to parents James Richard Hamilton and Martha Elizabeth Snow Hamilton.
She was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church, Kingston and enjoyed gospel singing in her earlier years.

Frances was preceded in death by:
Husband, Alvin Everett Bates ;
Parents, James Richard and Martha Elizabeth Hamilton;
Siblings, Jimmy Ray Hamilton, Edna Ruth Oliver, Nancy Bates, Elizabeth Falin, Earl Hamilton, and Barbara Bowling.

Survivors include:
Sons, Benny W. Bates, Sr. and wife, Gloria, Kingston;
Gary Lynn Bates and wife, Selina, Oak Ridge;
Daughter, Judy Bates Parker, Sanford, FL;
Brother, Roger Dale Hamilton, Oak Ridge;
Sisters, Betty Gambill, Morehead, KY;
Eva Neil Baker, Bristol, VA;
Grandchildren Ben Bates, Jr. , Kingston;
Cynthia Miller and husband, Tim, Oliver Springs;
Brittany Bates & fiancé Billy Schlott, Marietta, GA;
Great-grandchildren, Brandon and Emilee Miller and Violet Schlott
The family will receive friends at Weatherford Mortuary on Friday, December 29th from 6 – 8 PM with the funeral service following at 8 PM. Pastor Chris Bunn will be officiating. The graveside service will be held at Kingston Memorial Gardens, Saturday, 1 PM. An online guest book may be signed at weatherfordmortuary.com
