Obituary for Ellen Dale Harrison

Ellen Dale Watkins Harrison, aged 72, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on March 16, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital in Knoxville, TN surrounded by her family.
Ellen was born April 13, 1945 in Combs, KY, the daughter of the late Charlie Watkins and the late Esther Overbee Watkins. She was the 6th of 12 beautiful children. She graduated from M.C. Napier High School in Hazard, KY.
Ellen was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to work outside in her flowers, she was an avid listener of tradition southern gospel music, she loved to bake and was known to everyone in the community as the “cake lady” and delivered them regularly to her special friends. But most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Reasor (23), Lucas Vaughn Harrison (17), and Lane Edward Harrison (14). Ellen loved her family without fail. She was a constant ray of light to anyone who met her. She never met a stranger and could talk to you for hours about her family and the love she had for them as well as her Lord and Savior.
Ellen married the love of her life, James “Jim” Edward Harrison on July 7, 1965 who was in the U.S. Army at the time. They served 20+ years together during his service and was stationed on several Army bases throughout the United States and was even stationed in Zwiebrucken, Germany in the mid to late 70’s. Ellen and Jim raised 2 children, Melissa Reasor of Clinton, TN and son, Vaughn E. Harrison (Traci) also of Clinton, TN.
During the late 1980’s – mid 1990’s Ellen was a member of the Anderson County Sherriff’s Auxillary department under the direction of the late Sargent Dennis Daniels and Sherriff at the time the late Thomas Van Riper.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jim Harrison, daughter Melissa “Missy” Reasor, son Vaughn Edward Harrison and daughter in law Traci Abner Harrison. Three adoring grandchildren, Sarah, Luke, and Lane. Sisters, Thelma Campbell (RC) of Richmond, KY, Edith
