Obituary for Doris Lynn Handley

Doris Lynn Handley, 74, of Oak Ridge, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Methodist Medical Center.
She was born January 3, 1943 in Harriman, TN, the daughter of Evans and Madelyn Carpenter Hughes.
Mrs. Handley was a member of Kern Memorial United Methodist Church. She was an avid swimmer and served as an instructor at the Civic Center for many years. She also enjoyed walking and she loved animals.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Richard Handley; brother, Evans Hughes Jr and her beloved canine, Ellie May.
She is survived by son, Michael Tipton and wife Donna Jean and grandchildren, Hunter William Tipton and Zachary Michael Tipton, all of Taylorsville, KY; caregivers, Gail Shepard of Maynardville and Shelly Ball of Clinton.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 4 – 6pm at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 6pm with Dr. Don Morris officiating. Family and friends will meet on Sunday at 2 pm at Oak Ridge Memorial Park for a graveside service.
