Obituary for Ashley Raechelle Mills-Giar

Ashley Raechelle Barker Mills-Giar, 36, of Oak Ridge, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
She was born May 2, 1981 in Knoxville, the daughter of Paul Eugene Barker and Marcia Raechelle Cole Barker Freels.
Ashley grew up in Oak Ridge, attending Oak Ridge schools and playing basketball, soccer and volleyball at school in her youth.
She loved animals and her job at Planned Pethood in Harriman was a dream come true for her. She was also an avid sports fan, loving basketball, football and baseball.
Ashley was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Paul and Anna Ruth Barker.
She is survived by father, Gene Barker of Oak Ridge;
Mother, Marcia Cole Freels, of Wartburg (formerly of Oak Ridge); Husband, Brandon Mills of Rockwood; Sister, Schuyler Barker of Oak Ridge; Maternal grandparents, Doyle and Amy Cole of Karns and Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
The family would like to send their thanks of appreciation to the staff at Methodist Medical Center and the Critical Care Unit and to Thompson Oncology.
In keeping with Ashley’s wishes, she will be cremated and her family will have a private gathering to celebrate her life.
